EAWAG(Eidgenössische Anstalt für Wasserversorgung, Abwasserreinigung und Gewässerschutz) is a Swiss-based and internationally linked aquatic research institute committed to an ecological, economical and socially responsible management of water. It carries out research, teaching and consulting and forms a link between science and practical application. SANDEC is the Department of Water and Sanitation in Developing Countries at EAWAG being involved in ISSOWAMA. On the topic of solid waste management Sandec is involved in applied research, capacity building / training to contribute towards integrated, and sustainable solid waste management systems, new concepts, trans-disciplinary approaches and cross-sectorial technologies.
